Registering with Gourock Medical Practice
When you want to register with a new GP practice, you’ll need to follow these steps to ensure that your new GP practice has all your medical history and your medical records.
If this is your first registration with a GP practice in the UK, medical records from outwith the United Kingdom won’t be traced.
You can only register with a GP practice if you’re staying in the area for more than 3 months. If you’re not, you may still be treated, but as a Temporary Resident.
It is sometimes a while before your medical records become available to us. Please ask your current GP Practice to provide you with a supply of your repeat medicines if you have any. Please also advise the reception staff if you are housebound.
Please follow this link, or go to the 'Practice updates' page, for information on our Practice's geographical boundary to see if you are eligible to join our Practice. We are not currently accepting new patients who are already registered with an Inverclyde GP practice (correct at time of print Jan 2024)

We may ask new patients to attend for a new patient medical check with our Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant so please be aware we may contact you to book this. If attending for a new patient medical check, please bring a urine specimen with you in a white-topped container, which you can obtain from the reception desk.
While we are waiting on you full records transferring, we would also request that you arrange for a patient summary to be sent from your previous practice to our clinical email box ggc.gp86001clinical@nhs.scot giving us your past medical history and current medication.
